Chip's lunch: August 5, 2010

Seeing this photo kind of makes me want to go steal Chip's lunch out of the refrigerator right now. Mostly for the pita. We had black bean burgers for dinner tonight with the other half of this avocado and oh man. This avocado is perfect. We've had a bunch of terrible ones lately and this one was delightful. The buttery texture and nutty taste of avocado, plus the sweet tang of grape tomatoes...irresistible to me!

Whole wheat pita with avocado, organic greenleaf lettuce, organic spinach, organic grape tomatoes, and CSA onion, homemade lentil soup, Kashi granola bar, banana, and an organic Fuji apple.

  1. A quick question and forgive me if you've answered this before- do the bananas and apples oxidize terribly by the time lunch rolls around?

I love your system and am inspired to copy, but do not enjoy browning fruit.

  2. I love your blog. I actually just bought the bento 2.o for packing my husband's lunches. I blogged about it this morning (www.thejoggingstroller.blogspot.com) and had to thank you on it because you gave me the idea.

  3. Jaime- You're welcome! I hope you enjoy it!

Gina- Chip insists that the apples don't get brown. The bananas don't change color, but if I cut them into little slices (like 1/2"), they get slimy. Occasionally an apple will start to turn brown as soon as I cut it, so I squirt on a little bit of lemon or lime juice, and that takes care of it.
